My 3rd book The Teleporter is released!

Let’s face it, the internet works in weird and wonderful ways. My last two book release posts had zero views and zero likes so I could be saying anything right now, like Zuckerberg is actually one of those lizard folk, or cheese is in fact political propaganda to keep us lactose intolerant…

But for those inclined, my third book THE TELEPORTER is officially available via amazon. Click here to check it out…

This time I have written what appears to a super hero comedy on the surface but has actually turned out to be something way more than the genre it’s identified by. Although yes it is still funny (I really hope!) the story faces many different modern issues in this world we live. From low self esteem and self reflection to corruption in politics and business, this one I hope will result in giving the reader something to think about all with a healthy dose of haha! But these serious issues are never treated as a joke, that’s what makes it compelling.

So what’s the story?

Our main character Kurt Wiseman is serial ‘drinksmith’ (cool word huh?) and a general layabout/ graphic novelist. That is until he accidentally discovers the ability to Teleport whilst investigating his corrupt millionaire media controlling Trump… I mean boss.

What follows is a story of triumph, struggle, friendship and even mild addiction as Kurt becomes the Teleporter and looks to fight injustice, not because he should, but because he chooses to. The whole morality of good vs bad is highlighted throughout the narrative as our comedy guy fights the forces laid against him.

Above all this story is about honesty and power. In these words lay the most truth I have ever told as a writer, and as long as fiction contains some element of realism then the reader can relate.

I have to take this opportunity to thank my heroic book team for helping me put this together. My editor and publisher Nicky of Satin Publishing has been truly wonderful throughout the process and always contactable when needed. Her work has enhanced my story by tenfold.

Design for Writers have provided another fantastic cover managing to set a tone I could only visualize by words and they have been brilliant throughout.

My final nod is to the loyal people who have already got themselves a copy, the following I have is small but unconditional loyal and for that I must thank you a million times. This whole deal is to prove my passion is worth pursuing and my readers do that every time without fail. Thank you.

For people old and new who are following me and reading my stuff I must implore you to leave a review via amazon, goodreads, a blog or even Facebook (Lizardberg wont mind), and remember Selfies sell books

The Teleporter Exclusive Cover Reveal

Yes,you read that title correct and considering we are days away from the arrival of literature’s newest drunk super hero I thought I should share with the official cover of The Teleporter!

But that isn’t all, because you and I both know books shouldn’t be judged by their cover alone or their blurb, so let me tell you what the Teleporter is really about…

It’s a comedy…

Okay most of you already knew that, pretty much all of my marketing efforts have centered around convincing readers this story is funny, and it is. The comedy delivered by main character Kurt Wiseman can best be described as fourth wall breaking honesty. And honesty is probably the ultimate key word that runs throughout the many themes…

Honesty, really?

Yes, really, because if there is honesty or realness clung to the concept of something fictional the whole thing becomes all the more engaging and real. Trust me when I say there is more truth in this book than anything I have ever written.

So if this book delivers the truth via fiction, then what is it really about?

That’s a damn good question because the Teleporter isn’t ruled by genre, although it identifies as a super hero comedy and yes I’ve already mentioned that but what this book is really about you ask?

It’s about power, and the responsibility of power.

But that isn’t all because power is never a simple thing. The Teleporter firmly glares into the face of adversity when it comes to the abuse of power. This story isn’t afraid to stand up and punch many different problems society has, right in the face. And the wonderful thing is, this book was never supposed to be that at all. Much like the age we live in has become an opportunity for people to proudly stand up against stereotype, prejudice and discrimination by just being themselves. That is indeed a world where people with power do not like, and that is what drives change for the better.

As well as power, the Teleporter wraps itself in comedic satire to tackle modern politics, media control, inclusion and even addiction. This world we live in today, the internet age, is a place where all of that matters, and that is why this story is something you should read. But after all of that, it is just a comedy.

So without futher deliberation, okay just a bit more…

I set out to write something which was a departure from my usual genre and go a little more lighthearted. What I got instead was a straight shoot into the fire of modern society and all of its wonderful problems in which this world is still figuring out. Even now I have no idea how the Teleporter will be received, I’m uncomfortable and even a little nervous. Those feelings are what drives me to be a story teller, staying out of comfort and branching towards something risky and daring. The not knowing is probably the greatest and most unique feeling a writer can have, it makes us create better stories. Ladies and gentlemen, here it is, my third book The Teleporter!

The Teleporter: World Exclusive Blurb Reveal

teleporter logo

What if there was a power like no other? What if one drunken slouch stumbled where nobody stumbled before and discovered the ability to teleport!

And just when you thought there were enough super hero stories in this world, we made another one…

Kurt Wiseman spends his days underachieving and his nights quenching a thirst for drink. He doesn’t fit the standard bill of someone looking to battle injustice and certainly has no aspiration for abs. That is until destiny calls upon him to face an all too familiar sounding mega-rich powerful businessman who represents everything wrong with society today.

Wiseman accidentally acquires the power to teleport and realizes he must fight a politically loaded story arc as well as enduring a journey of self-reflection by overcoming his greatest weakness, booze. Even if the path is filled with comic book cliché, inappropriate one liners and genre busting fourth wall action. Kurt must earn the trust of his friends and save the day.

Not all heroes in this world are the same and with great power comes the possibility to go viral! This is a story that will unite humanity.

 Kurt Wiseman is… The Teleporter!

2018 Preview

Happy New year loyal reader and welcome to 2018! My blog is back for what will hopefully be the biggest yet for my writing.

‘They’ do say it takes 5 books to finally ‘feel’ any success towards being an author and so 2018 will see the arrival of not 1 but 2 more books to the back catalogue. That puts me 1 away from being a modern Tolkien right? We’ll see I guess but first before I talk about my books I want to address the white elephant in the room!

Star Wars – What were they thinking?

last jedi

This review will contain spoilers, but if you haven’t seen the Last Jedi, scroll on or don’t see it, I stand in either choice right now…

That bad? Well thinking about it and having let the whole thing sink in after xmas, yes. Now not all of it was terrible and as a casual (didn’t see them fully until my teens) fan I found myself wondering what the hell they were doing along with ‘hey that was pretty good’. There were some parts of the Last Jedi I did really enjoy, I could count them on one hand and on the other hand all of the bad or shall I say unnecessary plot arcs, events and characters that took up too much of the long run time.

It felt as if all the great work and promise from the force awakens seemed to be completely ignored or dashed by new the director Rian Johnson (the now voldemort of films). We didn’t see anywhere near the screen time needed for both Finn and Poe Dameron. Instead we are introduced  to filler characters. Some of which are trying to make an already richly diverse universe even more so. This time around the whole diversity thing just felt pushed. I mean the world is obsessed by such a thing which the original Star Wars had. Princesses that were strong and could fight, different skin tones and accents, its all there in a new Hope.

I cant get my head around why they cocked this up but they did. And for those who had waited 40 years to see their master Jedi return, you will be disappointed by Luke Skywalker, the recluse who spends a film ignoring Rey.

What interests me the most is an impending doom of where they will go next. Maybe Rock ‘the Dwayne Johnson’ was right by releasing Jumanji at the same time…

Let’s talk my books 2018…

Loyal followers will know this year will see two books come out.

The Teleporter

In a world where there are already too many super heroes, comes another super hero…

teleporter

Okay that may be a bit broad, but the Teleporter, arrives this April/May and promises to be of novella length. This short mainly comedic piece will see one layabout drunk guy accidentally acquire the ability to Teleport! Some other stuff happens and he tries to save the day and get drunk….

Sounds fun huh? Well I enjoyed writing what is a departure from horror and took my time to create something which will hopefully be a barrel of laughs. There will be more teasers like the one on the left soon. You can find more information here.

Cemetery House

‘Survival was only the beginning…’

The long awaited sequel to Open Evening arrives this Halloween and sets out to tell the story of those who survived that night in Haddington. We will see an extended origins arc for Twister who has to ‘go home’, this time around he’s not alone. Here’s the teaser trailer….

Cemetery House will also connect with Darke Blood resulting in a crossover coming 2019!

Big Book Update 2018

2018 is closing in on the horizon and I find myself asking where did that year go? Time flies when your kicking ass and writing books. But these days blog posts are rare for me due to my procrastination efforts and my philosophy of no news equals no blog.

17 18

Of course I could find something to vent about, like the deteriorating political situation in ‘insert nation here’ or how ‘insert maniacal world leader here’ will get us all into a nuclear war. It’s safe to say I prefer not to debate and voice opinions of such things, I find most news tiresome, especially when most of it is bad, I’m not ignorant, just selective. All bad news aside, I must say 2017 has been incredibly diverse for me in terms of success and writing efforts.

Earlier in the first half of this year we saw the release of my second novel Darke Blood in which sales are still trickling by and even some fresh reviews have made their way in. The feedback overall has been good and my efforts to publish this book have been very much worthwhile.

oe 1

Open Evening had further success by reaching Number 1 in its Occult category on amazon and sold over 600 copies in a day (it was free to download at the time!).

Soon after DB’s publication and before I got to work drafting my next next book. I say next next because 2018 is a huge year for me.

2018 will see two books of mine grace publication. My back catalogue this time next year will increase to 100%! (that’s just maths…)

So what are they? Well scrolling down past this post you will see my announcement post for CEMETERY HOUSE; the sequel to Open Evening and also linked to the Darke Blood universe! Exciting huh? Click on the picture below to view the teaser. We are looking at a Halloween release for CH.

So what’s the other book?

Soon after finishing the inital draft of CH I needed a much needed light hearted break away from horror/thrillers and so I got to work on a comedy novella called, wait for it….

THE TELEPORTER; a super hero comedy type story. I am looking at an early April release date and more importantly over the last week I have been in contact with my awesome book publication team and I can confirm…..

both Satin Publishing and Design for Writers will be on board to publish/edit and create an awesome cover not just for the Teleporter but for Cemetery House also!

My next step will be to let my loyal readers know official release dates which will turn up sooner than you think! Hashtag creepy wink!

Introducing my next book; The Teleporter

Just when you thought there were enough super hero stories in this world, we made another one…

My next book’ The Teleporter is officially out now in both paperback and e-book formats.

dfw-lh-tt-cover-ebook

What’s it about?

Some of you will have seen the official announcement via my FB page and you can see a snippet of it below.

This book is predominately a comedy with fourth wall breaking elements and a genre aware story telling style very much seen in Open Evening. But is also a departure from horror and moves my work into a more lighthearted area of reading. Having written comedy only once before for a live action play I am already having a lot fun putting together the pieces that will make up a promising project.

Why ‘super heroes’ ?

The main character of the Teleporter will tell you very early on that ‘super’ and ‘hero’ are both dirty words in his story and to me they are also. Even though they describe the genre to an extent this book wont be the standard guy trying to save the world. Cinema and television are inundated with comic book hero types and there seems to be no signs of that slowing down anytime soon. Both Marvel and DC are juggernauts in producing these stories which seemed to be unlimited, taking that into account and the success of more comedic swaying stories I have decided to make my own.

The Teleporter is a character I have explored before and it didn’t really get very far. After producing other books I have found some more material and background for this story of a guy who can teleport and that’s about all. Back when I devised this character I did it because there doesn’t seem to be someone who can just teleport, it is a pretty useless super power which will just add to the comedy.

The influences are many in the Teleporter; Deadpool and Hancock come to mind along with Kick Ass and even the Hangover. This is an internet age hero who finds himself no choice but to fight for what is right in a situation.  That is even if he has a slight drinking problem.

You can catch the Teleporter on Facebook and even like his page for support, so check it out.
