Weekly Ramble #153

Reaching 35,000 Twitter followers is a hell of a milestone. To have that many people compelled to follow my efforts on a strange word party based platform carries a feeling that perhaps I have made it to some extent.

My secret is probably to never feel fully content and to always chase more. Good results foster even better results and on a platform like Twitter all you need is a little growth to tell you things are good and suddenly that growth can explode. It hasn’t been an easy journey and time has been the governing factor because there are no easy or quick fixes for me. People do often ask how but I would more look to why for the answer and that is because I never gave up.

Those who do keep going in creativity find rewards for their craft and in the social media world they also find others to stand beside. My following on here and across the platforms is heavily populated by fellow creatives who I’ll never consider my competition but my team mates. All of this is driven by a state of mind and a thinking that resonates with that attitude. Social media does have many pitfalls bit is also one hell of a beacon for many including me.

Just what is that beacon broadcasting? Hope, for those who can see within.

To those who do follow me on Twitter, over 35,000 of you, thank you.

Weekly Ramble #152

Good things takes time. Even better things take even more time and time is something that passes without realizing whilst you’re chasing those good things.

In less than a month, I’ll be an eight time published author. Something I’d only really dream of when this blog first opened its doors to providing the world information and me a writing outlet. Now, things are looking good and time has been one of my best friends. From spending it figuring out social media to carve thousands of followers, to honing my writing craft. I’m not sure that I’ve ever become a better writer, but I’m definitely more efficient with words – everything else is for the readers to judge and speaking of reviews, that is yet another great thing that comes with time and patience.

There are a lot of creatives out there, social media has brought us closer and perhaps into a golden age of stuff, stuff that is out there for anyone and everyone. It takes time to find an audience, hone a craft and chase dreams, but eventually anything is possible over time.

‘The Perfect Athlete’ by Olivier Doleuze – Review

The Perfect overview and resource for the fit and healthy conscious…

Tenured Jockey Olivier Doleuze lays out a hugely beneficial resource/overview style guide for anyone looking to improve their nutrition and fitness that is packed with information.

This easy-to-read book is delivered with an approachable chatty style that partners well with the sheer amount of definitions, explanations and what is essentially a blue print for modern sport/nutrition and more. Early on it is stated that this book is for “Athletes and aspiring fitness enthusiasts’ but everyone or anyone who wants to be more conscious of their health through exercise and diet this is a must-read, it really will open your mind and awareness.

Structured much like how the ideal workout it begins with the warm up – definitions of the basics are laid out like nutrition, metabolism, calories, fuel and so much more. Although this is a lot of information, its written with a light style that isn’t too heavy to take in and makes for a memorable start to the work out/ reading experience. The chapters that follow, cover everything in detail but again not too heavily, many guides do suffer from adding ‘fluff’ but this one is lean and in good shape, trust me.

I was drawn to this book to learn and to find more insight into how my own diet relates to my fitness and now my mind is very much open especially with the very meaningful and motivational statement about weight only really being a number.

This book exactly what I needed to refresh my fitness journey because I think many of us sometimes get lost along the path when it does relate to weight expectations, nutrition and fitness. I’ll happily admit a lot of this stuff I didn’t even know until I picked up this guide which I shall be using in the future for reference.

An Experiment in Flash Fiction – An Excerpt

An Experiment in Flash Fiction by Megan Hinde – an excerpt…

cch217

I chose a few pieces of flash fiction from a random number generator. I organize my flash fiction by number of words per piece. So I took 24 to 545 and generated five random numbers. The following are the corresponding word count (as close as I can get) of each piece of flash fiction. Enjoy and check out the ebook or paperback of An Experiment in Flash Fiction available on Amazon. – Megan

An Experiment in Flash Fiction is for me, all my musing printed in one place. Inspired by Agatha Christie ‘And Then Their Were None’ and Clue, my original take on ‘Mr. Plum, in the Conservatory, with a lead pipe.’ Sometimes twisted, sometimes heartfelt, always a good time regardless of length.

First number drawn 196 closest piece in word count:

The Five Elements of Tweeting Success

Welcome to a reflective anniversary post celebrating my first year on Patreon. In that time I have churned out a bunch of fiction and guides mainly aimed at helping fellow creatives get better results on Twitter. In my many audio coaching sessions, I often refer to the 5 elements of Tweeting success and so here they are, in detail and this post is free for all so everyone can get a taste of what type of content you can access for just a few dollars a month.

Grab your multi pass and if you get that late 90’s sci-fi reference you have my appreciation but either way follow my words.

So during my many years of tweeting into the void, I have found that void eventually answered back when my tweets aimed to do one, or several of these 5 things:

As long as you aim to inspire, inform, entertain, give value or incentive then you will eventually see good results. So what do I mean by each?

‘Red on White’ by J.P Biddlecome – Review

‘The Wolves came, rising from the waves…’

Red on White is an intriguing tale of one young man’s battle to survive after an earthquake and subsequent tsunami hits Oregon. Soon enough chaos ensues as ‘James’ is about to head home from his farming job but the elements beg to differ. The huge wave rolls in along with the destruction taking everything in its path.

“Maybe his best friend was floating in that soup. Each face looked like a friend, a relative, a loved one…”

With this being my 2nd J.P. Biddlecome experience I can see his growth as a story teller is apparent through a story of adversity drawing some similarities to ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ alongside elements of ‘Castaway’. There’s a running metaphor throughout that compares the many days James spends trying to survive as a pack of wolves begin to circle and grow. Survival is the key word here as this candid descriptive reading experience drew me in from very start.

4 Stars Thank you to the author for reaching out and providing a copy of the book. Reviews left via Amazon and Goodreads

Weekly Ramble #151

All the usual festivities of a book release are coming. Book 8 ‘Darke Apocalypse’ is about a month and half away from release and it will be a relief to get this one over the line.

Way back in 2020 I committed to releasing this book next and so that time and work is about to culminate. Social media promotion is a grind but I am ready and now we are in August I’ve got no choice but to ramp up my presence because all of the sales, follows, reviews, interactions and success is built upon presence. When someone does ask me how I get daily book sales I simply tell them it is based on presence but of course a lot of other factors have to align also.

August also marks the anniversary of starting Patreon which has now become quite a success. 10 kind Patrons have signed up and the content is growing – to those who support me there, thank you. I plan on releasing much more soon so for that and my 8th book, I’ll say what I always say, watch this space!
